Sorry lovely readers, I hate to post nothing but links, but these stories are too good to pass up, and all courtesy of clipmarks.com - I suggest you sign up and see what a people powered interesting internet is like…. I definitely have no regrets about joining, especially since it was free…

here are the top stories of the past week:

    This week in Clipmarks…

Thought solar was the energy source of the future? How about
    cows
    .

There’s a hormone in your brain that helps you read minds.

It won’t be long before we can scale buildings with a real-life Spider-Man suit.

Imagine nine Empire State Buildings stacked on top of each other. That’s the planned height for what will be the world’s tallest building.

What do stains, pimples, flowers and mosquito bites have in common? They could all use an aspirin.

And lastly, something I am more skeptical about:
Why aren’t humans furry? It could have been the choice of millions of Stone Age mothers.

Louis Palmer wants to be the first man to drive around the world in a
solar-powered car. He has started a project, SolarTaxi, which aims to circumvent
the globe in the green car, meeting politicians and policy makers as they go.
“With the power of the sun around the world - stop global warming! 40.000 km…
40 countries… 14 months…” The Swiss team will head of on the 3rd of July
from Lucerne in Switzerland. Palmer has previously tested the car out on a
relatively short dash to Spain and back, a round-trip of 3,000 km. If this
sounds interesting, then get in touch with the group, they’re currently looking
to arrange visits on their way around the world. “Organise our visit in…

A Fresh Slap in the Face

Well, the bloggers have arrived, according to the Media Bloggers Association.

The bloggers began showing up yesterday for the Lewis ‘Scooter’ Libby trial “as credentialed members of the media covering a federal trial.” Is this a major turning point for bloggers out there who want some street credit that they feel they deserve? Are bloggers going to give the mainstream media a run for their money? Or is it just two sides of the same coin? One will be too far right and the other too reactionary, so an informed reader will have to do what is necessary to find the middle ground and draw their own conclusions.

All this comes as oil hits a new low at $51 dollars/barrel. Looks like we can kiss those electric car dreams goodbye. Bring out the Hummers and the Mustangs…

The fact of the matter is that the profiteers are going to squeeze every last drop of profit out of petroleum before switching to alternative means to fill their greedy pockets. You can bet that the major oil companies already have some patented designs and innovations hidden under lock and key, just ready to unveil to the world to conveniently save the day at the right moment, when peak oil finally strikes and we are heading towards certain economic doom and depression, which I thought was going to happen when Alan Greenspan stepped down after his long tenure of effectively controlling and managing the domestic money markets.

Yes OPEC has even called for the use of ‘advanced technology’ to reduce CO2 emissions… but I wonder who has these ‘advanced’ technologies under lock and key…

Actually we shouldn’t worry about peak oil ushering in our certain doom, since we are borrowing billions of dollars from China to pay for our ballooning trade deficit. This deficit is going to ruin the dollar in international markets, which will bring the US down quicker than any presidental policy could.

As a final note in this rambling terrible post; please if your filling up your car and you see a Hummer filling up as well, give the drive a fresh slap in the face for me, and tell him he is killing our planet. And then slap yourself in the face because the CO2 from your flatulence is killing the planet as well, and it’s probably too late to do anything about it.

Climate change is real, but the questions are:

    1. Are we actually causing climate change, or is this just something cyclical?
    2. Is there anything we can do to stop it, short of going back to the pre-industrial era?

    hmmm.

Since we are doomed, we might as well enjoy our little lives while we can and listen to some good music. I hopefully will get another playlist posted up for the next one, so keep checking back. Thanks for the read and please comment.

PS - here is more crapola about the North American Union farce.

Why not Plug-in Instead of Fill-Up? Companies jump on the Alternative Energy / Hybrid Bandwagon

It looks like the world has turned again and history repeats itself yet again…

I didn’t want to post anything tonight, but watching American Idol, I decided, why not, idiots are performing in front of an audience, whats another weirdo on the blog scene posting a stupid electric car post….

And in case you haven’t noticed, based on my live shoutbox comments from readers, the constant skeptic is rather feminine, nerdy, and likes non-mainstream music. Also, the constant skeptic has some informative articles. My mother probably wrote the last one. Kudos mom! At least someone loves me for something other than just my MP3 songs.

Back in the 1970s (gosh, before I was born!) much interest was pushed towards alternative fuel vehicles. Then it all died out with renewed relationships and oil deals with the middle east that continued throughout the 1980’s up until the present day with the deteriorating situation that is getting worse every day.

While gas relations are a complicated subject to discuss at any length without some expertise on the subject, profiteering is another story altogether….

Automobile manufactures are all leaning green these days…. and Ford is even mulling over an electric vehicle that you simply plug in to recharge.

But have we all forgotten that back in the 1990’s electric cars were all the rage on the designers draft boards?

What killed the electric car back in the 90s? Check out this video, but remain skeptical about who is actually pulling the strings. When dealing with millions of dollars, something or someone always gets corrupted and the average consumer usually pays the price.

PS/RANDOM ENDNOTE - if your looking for an alternative to Starbucks, buy Caribou Coffee instead… and no I am not getting paid for that plug, I happen to love their coffee.

China to Build on of the Worlds Largest Solar Power Stations

Shanghai (AFP) Nov 21, 2006 - China intends to build one of the world’s biggest solar power stations at a cost of 765 million dollars, state press reported Tuesday. The 100-megawatt facility, to be built in Dunhuang, an oasis town in northwest China’s Gansu province, will be a collaborative effort between the local government and Beijing’s Zhonghao New Energy Investment, Xinhua news said. The project will take five-years to construct, it added.
