Interesting UFO story of the day: Local reporter on Texas UFO case leaves newspaper

The following is article posted on the American Chronicle that attempts to raise questions as to whether or not there is a cover up taking place in Stephenville, TX. As far as the constant skeptic is concerned, there is no cover up, and there were never any real cause for alarm. Whatever the UFO’s were, it was probably our (read ‘the gov’s) aircraft. Think about it, why would aliens visit Texas? Enjoy the article and do your own research.

By Steve Hammons February 09, 2008
The local newspaper reporter in Stephenville, Texas, who helped cover a UFO sighting case there is no longer working at the Stephenville Empire-Tribune newspaper, effective last Thursday, Feb. 7.

Journalist Angelia Joiner had been covering the UFO story which broke early in January and brought national and international news media representatives and researchers to Stephenville, other nearby small towns and the surrounding region.

Mainstream media such as the Associated Press, CNN and other major TV networks and newspapers covered the incident with great interest. The international press also paid special attention to the UFO sightings in Stephenville and towns in the area.Media personalities such as CNN’s Larry King and NBC’s Today show host Matt Lauer explored the sightings on their shows.

In Stephenville, Joiner was a staff writer at the small-town newspaper there. She did an excellent job of researching and interviewing local residents who were surprised, curious and concerned about the very unusual objects they reportedly saw.

As national and international interest in the case grew in January, Joiner was contacted for information as the reporter on the scene with some of the best knowledge of the local community. Her articles helped inform not only local residents who relied on professional reporting for their community, but also assisted other Americans and people internationally understand that Stephenville people and residents in the area were down-to-Earth, solid and of good character. The factual and level-headed journalism Joiner provided helped the national news media understand and respect the citizens in these communities. This resulted in some of the most serious and credible reporting in the national media on such an incident in recent memory. The AP article was carried in hundreds of papers and news outlets. People like Larry King and Matt Lauer talked about the subject with intelligence and open minds. All these outcomes were related in part to the high level of credibility of local witnesses who were courageous enough to come forward and the professionalism of local reporter Joiner and her colleagues in the national and international news media. However, some of these witnesses and Joiner seem to be paying a price for doing their civic duty and communicating about an incident that appeared to be very significant, and could even have affected the public safety of the communities in the area.

    CENSORSHIP AND “NEED TO KNOW”
According to information obtained for this report, management at the Stephenville Empire-Tribune did not want further coverage in the paper of the sightings by local citizens of something that appeared to be highly unusual. Pressures may have been placed on newspaper management to discontinue articles on the subject. According to the newspaper’s Web site, “The Stephenville Empire-Tribune is a mid-morning paper published six days a week by Erath Publishers, Inc., a Consolidated Southwest Media company which is owned by American Consolidated Media. The Empire-Tribune is a member of the Associated Press, Texas Press Association, West Texas Press Association and the Inland Press Association. “Publisher Rochelle Stidham and Managing Editor Sara Vanden Berge were contacted for their comments for this report but did not immediately respond.

Did the paper’s management face pressures to end coverage of the UFO sighting by a local peace officer, respected businessman and pilot and reportedly dozens of other local citizens? Did they back away from accounts of local citizens who said they were apparently being threatened for talking about what they saw? Is this a case of media censorship or self-censorship and political correctness? Is it about professional courage and moral integrity? And, can the newspaper now be trusted by the community to cover important aspects of public health and safety, local political activities and other sometimes sensitive topics? These seem to be questions for the citizens who read and subscribe to the paper and advertisers who use that newspaper. The corporate owners of the Empire-Tribune (Consolidated Southwest Media, American Consolidated Media) and the professional news and journalism organizations with which the paper is affiliated (Associated Press, Texas Press Association, West Texas Press Association, Inland Press Association) might also want to review developments there. As for the former reporter Joiner who had covered the concerns and accounts of local citizens so professionally, life goes on. She appears to be confident that she did the best job she could have for her community as a responsible local journalist who realized something important had happened to her fellow citizens, neighbors and friends.

Interesting Story of the Day - Aliens Saved Humans From Extinction Numerous Times?

Alien Technology - 5. Outside Influence
    By Mr. David Merchant
There is genetic evidence that humans have narrowly escaped extinction on more than one occasion. One event, according to the Toba catastrophe theory, involves a super volcano on Sumatra 70000 to 75000 years ago which reduced the human …
    Alien Realities - http://alienrealities.blogspot.com/

Of course I am skeptical that aliens have intervened to save our species in the past. Here is my logic: (flawed as it may be)

    If aliens saved us:
    - Then they have a reason to keep us alive.
If they had a reason to keep us alive:
    - Then they would be using us for some purpose.
    If they are using us:
    - Then they will be in contact with us again (if they haven’t already)
If they will be in contact again, they will destroy us for how stupid we have become.

The only reason why they would have to stay away is if their home planet is in an elliptical orbit that is very stretched out, meaning it will take then a very long time to come back around to near our orbit. They probably have the date calculated when our planets will again align.

This is one theory of many nutso theories that pop into my head and quickly get squashed by my reason and scientific integrity. My open-mindedness keeps them lodged in my sub conscious though, and they pop out now and again.

The Clinton presidency and the real UFO cover-up… Serpo is the key

Unbeknown to most of the public, there was a massive impetus to release classified information regarding UFO’s during the Clinton administration. Of course those efforts failed, but the documentation that the request was in can be found here:
    paradigm research group

The report is allegedly requesting a document corpus of 3000 pages of UFO related material from the past forty years of alien and UFO incidents, including the SERPO incident where the same species of alien that crashed at Roswell actually made contact and landed at Holloman AFB (named Holloman Landing) in 1964 and the real “close encounters of the third kind” took place. Twelve of our bravest and brightest were taken to their home planet.

    the following from serpo.org:

Named SERPO by the human visitors, the ETs’ planet is 38 light years from Earth, in the Zeta Reticuli star system (famed in UFO lore since the 1962 Betty and Barney Hill alien abduction story). SERPO is a little smaller than Earth and has two suns. It is hot, flat and dry, harsh but habitable, especially in the cooler northern regions where the humans eventually made their home. The Team spent 13 years on SERPO where, despite a few misadventures, they were welcomed by the Ebens, as they are dubbed by Anonymous.

What do you think? I personally think this is part of a disinformation campaign, or completely false… but then again, I am the constant skeptic.

This is too funny, how to get word smacked by NASA

Ok, to give you some background on this, this is a question posited to the “Ask an astrobiologist” section of the NASA Astrobiology Institute’s website.
It has to do with what the *real* truth is behind the ‘face on mars’

    Question:

Here’s one for ya. The face on Mars. Now, keep in mind that I’m a UFO alien believer. I’ve been to several websites, read several articles, and watched several videos about the face on Mars. I’ve even seen all the photos. Now, despite what NASA says….THAT’S A FACE!!!! Anyone can see that! It’s not shadow’s or trick-of-light. Why does NASA always cover these things up??? For once, can’t we just be told the TRUTH?

    Answer:

I’m sorry to hear that you have been taken in by absurd claims on the web about the Face on Mars. Sure, it looks like a face in low-resolution images like the original Viking photo in 1976. And equally obviously it does not look like a face in the many higher-resolution photos, under different lighting conditions, that have been taken recently by much more powerful cameras in orbit around Mars. In science we try to use the best data available, not jump to conclusions based on a “first look” and doggedly cling to those initial ideas in spite of new, better information. We are also careful to study real images, not computer-generated videos like those you refer to, which just show the concept that was put into the computer, not the real feature on Mars. Many of the original “Face” proponents have come to realize that this mesa does not really look like a face, and one crazy conspiracy theory was that this feature had been bombed between the original photo in 1976 and the better pictures taken during the past decade. NASA has been open about this issue; remember that it was NASA scientists who first identified this feature in the original low-resolution Viking photos. We do not “cover things up”. Indeed, what possible reason could there be for NASA to try to suppress evidence of aliens — that would be stupid on our part. If you are really interested in the TRUTH, I suggest these two websites and the links they provide to the best high-resolution photos of this feature (NASA Science at http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2001/ast24may_1.htm, Phil Plait’s BadAstronomy at http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/hoagland/face.html).

NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM - Why is There a Pyramid on the Back of the One Dollar Bill?

Ok, to get past all of the conspiracy theories surrounding the symbolism on the back of the one dollar bill, I went to the official source, the treasury’s FAQ page.

    Question:
What is the significance of the symbols on the back of the one-dollar bill? I’m particularly interested in the eye and the pyramid.

    Answer:

The eye and the pyramid shown on the reverse side of the one-dollar bill are in the Great Seal of the United States. The Great Seal was first used on the reverse of the one-dollar Federal Reserve note in 1935. The Department of State is the official keeper of the Seal. They believe that the most accurate explanation of a pyramid on the Great Seal is that it symbolizes strength and durability. The unfinished pyramid means that the United States will always grow, improve and build. In addition, the “All-Seeing Eye” located above the pyramid suggests the importance of divine guidance in favor of the American cause. The inscription ANNUIT COEPTIS translates as “He (God) has favored our undertakings,” and refers to the many instances of Divine Providence during our Government’s formation. In addition, the inscription NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM translates as “A new order of the ages,” and signifies a new American era.

So, the new world order is real… blah blah blah…

I am more interested in what you, the reader, thinks…
