A Quick and Dirty One - Death Toll Could Reach 200,000 souls

Citing figures from 22 organizations in 58 townships, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said estimates of the death toll in Myanmar range from 68,833 and 127,990.”
128,000 deaths. Hard to wrap my mind around that figure. That is 100 times the death toll of Katrina (1,322).
Some online sources are actually saying the final tally could be in the 200,000’s. That is a quarter million souls. How high are the estimates going to go, and why are we obsessed with death statistics? I guess it gets back to our mortal obsession with death.
