Some thoughts on liberation and exploitation
If one wants to know anything about liberalization and freedom from this evil world that we are forced to deal with every day, Marcuse is a must read. I am reading “An Essay on Liberation”, currently, which seems to lay the groundwork for changing the current world capitalist regime of exploitation of the working class while keeping them pacified through the entertainments they consume, namely violence, sex, video games, movies, etc, all now conveniently available over the net for a nominal fee. Here is a good quote from him:
“Is it still necessary to state that not technology, not technique, are the engines of repression, but the presence, in them, of the masters who determine their number, their life span, their power, their place in life, and the need for them?”
Very good food for thought if nothing else. He believes that society has been dupped to such a degree that they have lost the ability to realize if they are free or not. Check it out if you feel revolutionary, or at least vicariously revolutionary. And remember to remain skeptical.
