    Chinese Journalist Dies after Police Beating

    Beijing (AFP) Jul 25, 2006 - A Chinese journalist has died after being beaten by a local police chief in southwest China, one of his colleagues and a human rights group said Tuesday. Xiao Guopeng, an editor for Guizhou province’s Anshun Daily newspaper, was punched and knocked to the ground by police official Pan Dengfeng, an editor with the paper told AFP by phone.
